Generational Curse

In Exodus 34:7 God states that he will visit the iniquities of the father on the children up to the fourth generation of those who hate Him.
But wait…. Didn’t Jesus forgive all sin? How can there be a curse when all has been forgiven? In Matthew 5:17,  Jesus states that he did not come to abolish the law. So the old testament is still relevant and the contract was verified by Jesus with his words and by the prophets of the new testament. I mean, why would God proclaim his logic only to abolish it later? Jeremiah 31:31 states that there will be a new covenant that will be written on our hearts. Meaning we should know right from wrong-what we call today morality. The Holy Spirit guides us to do right so that we don’t break the commands that God has set which were enforced by Jesus. It’s your conscience saying" that doesn’t sound, look, taste, feel or smell right. Let’s be clear we will die for our own sins but, while living, we also can be visited by the same demons that your ancestors opened the door to.
So what’s the answer? Generational curses exist and can only expire through repentance. Repentance for your sins and the asking for repentance because of those precedents that were set by the ancestors before you. Closing the door left open by your ancestors before you. Exodus 20:6 states that God does show mercy even when you are cursed-mercy that is available at all times through Jesus Christ.
Please, understand that you will be tested, but the test is only a way to close the door to that sin so that your children would not be visited by this curse.
